The project Economy: Picasso, which Pedro G. Romero will be presenting from 25 May to 2 September at the Museu Picasso in Barcelona, will provide the context for a series of seminars, labs and encounters in two distinctsequences: Exchanges (February-March) and Partitions (May).
These activities are conceived as a line of exploration complementing the museum presentation, the exhibition catalogue and the other discursive figures developed by the project itself.
Exchange is a series of interrogative encounters open to a wide range ofquestions and points of view about the art economy, which should be understood not only as a matter of buying and selling and price (‘the stock exchange of artistic values', as Silverio Lanza called it) but also as the distribution, classification and taxonomy of the things of art in the world, and as ‘economy' in the proper sense of the containment or distribution of material or expressive resources.
What we have here is a set of communications, presentations, dialogues, round-tables and performances that move, as the artist himself says, ‘between the question mark and the exclamation mark', exploring other possibilities for understanding and working a differentsense of the art economy.
Exchanges will be carried out in three sessions, alternating four different actuation formats: dialogues, performative events, discussion forums and presentations.
