In 1913, Frederic Marès finished his artistic training at the School of la Llotja in Barcelona, strengthened also by their attendance at the workshop of the modernist sculptor Eusebi Arnau. Between the autumn of this year and February 1914 made a trip to Paris, where he came into direct contact with the work of Rodin and Meunier. The works made by Marès between 1915 and the early 20s, responded to a more independent and free sculpture creation, as in the case of Three Young Women included in the Noucentisme, which he leave when his work adheres preferentially to the institutional orders and commemorative monuments, with less room for creativity. Those are the first works that brought him recognition from art critics. However, the collection of the Museum does not keep many works of this period and it is for this reason that the acquisition of this piece is especially important.
