2010-2011 Sculpture Restoration Programme

Parallel to the execution of the museographic remodelling programme, the museum has also embarked on a Sculpture Restoration Programme for the period 2010-2011.

With this end in mind, it has stepped up its restoration of sculptures from the 15th to 19th centuries, primarily polychromed carvings. These sculptures are meant to take pride of place in the new museological and museographic discourse in the pipeline. Works by renowned artists or their circles have been chosen, including Juan de Juni, El Greco's circle, Gaspar Becerra's circle, Manuel Álvarez, Gregorio Fernández, Pedro de Mena and Gil de Siloé's circle.

Since June 2010, the museum has partnered with a variety of sponsors, both corporate and private individuals, whose contributions finance the restoration of prominent works in the new museological discourse.
