2010 Municipal Markets Omnibus Survey

posted 02/02/2011

The Barcelona Institute of Municipal Markets (IMMB) questions in the Municipal Omnibus Survey of March 2010 look at aspects such as how often people shop in the municipal markets and how they rate them.

The results show 65.5% of Barcelona residents go to the market with a degree of regularity. For example, 29.8% go one or more times a week and 3.3% every day. On the other hand 27.3% never or hardly ever go.

In terms of satisfaction 23.8% of market users say they are very satisfied, 50.3% quite satisfied while only 3.5% say they are not very satisfied or not at all.

The main reasons for their satisfaction are the treatment they receive (34.6%), the quality of the produce (32.9%) and the variety (23.5%). The main reason offered by those people who do not shop at the markets is they are a long way from where they live (25.6%).
