Streets, squares and parks are public spaces where leisure and take advantage of the Mediterranean climate of the city. The maintenance and renewal of the urban city is conducted under criteria of sustainability to preserve the quality of public space.

The Department of the Environment has carried out work on 40% of the city's 3,960 streets. This has involved maintenance actions and the partial restructuring of 1,705 streets, 367 of which have been completely restructured. Works have involved improvements to paving, street lighting, accessibility, street signs, street furniture, street trees and the reclaiming of green areas.
