The Beach Centre

Located in the arcades at the beach Somorrostro, in front of the Hospital del Mar, the Beach Centre is an information point, a meeting place and a training centre for anyone who is interested in the coast of Barcelona and all matters relating thereto.

The Beach Centre offers information on the beaches and also visitor care services, it organises educational activities on sports, culture and seafront sustainability and it is the venue for the thematic exhibitions on the city's coast.

A space for revitalisation

The Beach Centre runs a stable programme throughout most of the year. Its offer includes recreational and sporting events, environmental education, history and nature walks, audiovisuals, workshops and talks.

During the months of June, July, August and September, the Beach Centre offers a wide variety of activities for all audiences: youth centres, groupings, senior citizens' associations, families, etc.

Activities for schools

The Beach Centre also offers educational activities targeted at schoolchildren. Studying the beach and the coastal ecosystems and the sustainable and secure use of the beach are some of the subjects included in the centre's pedagogical offer, covering both environmental and civic education.

Lending out the space

The entities relating to the coast of Barcelona can use the Beach Centre meeting room and its facilities to hold training sessions or meetings. The timetable is the Centre's usual opening hours, except on those dates and times during which coincide with activities scheduled or arranged in advance.

Promotion of activities

The Beach Centre provides the opportunity to get to know the activities being carried out by the entities, associations or collectives related to the Barcelona coastline. Send us your request.

ID bracelets

The Beach Centre announces its details of and how to access its ID bracelet service for children using the beach. These bracelets are used to identify children in the event that they get lost.

Beach library service

The Beach Centre offers daily service during the months of July, August and September (from 11 am to 7 pm) for borrowing press, magazines, comics and other documents for all beach users who wish to partake.

Esportplatja

Free lending of Frisbees, volleyballs and nets, beach tennis balls and rackets and petanque games. All you need to do is show your DNI.

Ludoplatja

Free lending of buckets, moulds, shovels, rackets and watering cans. All you need to do is show your DNI.

Guided tours of the Centre's exhibitions

Guided tours for individuals every Sunday from June to September from 12 am to 1 pm and for group every day the Centre is open with time to be arranged. You must make a reservation.
