The plants of Barcelona
Barcelona's parks, gardens and streets are home to a large number of plant species that together form a green heritage that represents the history and nature of the city. The parks and gardens host over 2,000 different plant species ? some autochthonous and others with horticultural origins ? that define a way of creating and understanding green spaces in Barcelona.
The inventory of plant species found in the parks and gardens principally includes the trees and shrubs present in Barcelona's 197 open spaces. The inventory was complied in 2010 and it lists which species are found but not their number.
