On Monday 9 May filming gets under way of a television series to be broadcast on the internet about a group of young people from different cultures.

Filming starts on Monday 9 May for the online television series kdm;), which was created by a group of teenagers aged 14 to 18, to reflect the enthusiasm and involvement of a group of young people from several cultures. The filming of the series is the culmination of a year-long project carried out by the nearly 70 members involved in the initiative.

Produced through the Sant Andreu District Council and the Commissioner for Immigration, in collaboration with the audio-visual production laboratory CINECITTÀ at the Garcilaso Youth Centre, this initiative was launched by theCity Council in May 2011, using an online casting process to select the artistic and technical teams for the filming of this audio-visual product.

The project is designed to promote respect for cultural diversity and encourage young people to play an active role in society.

Kdm;) is about the adventures and relationships of a group of enthusiastic young entrepreneurs who set up their own internet television channel. They produce news, debate, music and entertainment programmes, which reflect their real interests and fit in with their own view of the world and the future.

The series will consist of seven episodes that use humour and ingenuity to tackle teenage issues : expectations, diversity, the future, passion, love, confusion and new technologies. The production will be filmed at the Fabra i Coats Creation Factories, with filming expected to be completed by September, so that the series can be shown this autumn.

Since the casting process began in May 2011, during which 150 videos were submitted, the teenagers who were chosen have been attending workshops on various aspects of audio-visual production:directing, acting, script writing, image, sound, background music, makeup and art.

The training has given them the skills they will need for each of their specialist areas.A team of professionals from the sector has delivered more than 150 training sessions where the young people have learned about the complexities of audio-visual production and the values of team work.

This initiative is the follow-up to a previous project led by the Garcilaso Youth Centre, El culebrón del barri, a mini series filmed by the centre managers in 2009 in collaboration with teenagers who played the roles of actors, directors, cameramen, etc.
